Medical Mission Sister's mission is to be present to life in the spirit of Jesus the healer. We express our healing presence in a variety of ways. As persons committed to health and healing, we care for the earth and tend to the wounds of its peoples with compassion. In our quest for wholeness, we pursue justice in solidarity with those made poor, with the powerless, and with those who are oppressed. With them we struggle to transform unjust systems and structures. In this process we explore new areas of concern and assume new responsibilities, which enable us to evolve with the times.
Our work at the United Nations is a natural extension of this humanitarian effort. We maintain an active presence at the United Nations and have Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council, and also have accreditation with UN Department of Public Information. We are present at the United Nations to engage in the decision-making realm. Here we strive to give voice to the voiceless by advocating for policy changes that is is vital for the health of humanity and planet. MMS is a non-profit organization.
